Happy National Cup-Cake Week!
A belated Happy National Cupcake Week. That’s right, it was last week and as usual I’m always the last to find out. I’m so upset, because I love cake and I didn’t even have one last week! I did create a bear called Cup-cake though! He is 7cm and made from long pile upholstery velvet. He got his name from the little cake box he sits in. This bear is from a collection of miniatures I made this summer all of which come with their own little hand crafted box.
Oops sorry I got a little off topic there for a moment. Have you ever wondered who decides it’s the national week for this or the national month for that and how they spread the word or not, as in this case? I thought I would do a little research and let you know some of what’s in store for October.
There are some very strange ones too. For example October is national kitchen and bath month, national free thought month and the national roller skating month. Not really for me those I have to say! But if like me you like your food there’s plenty of choice in October. It’s national popcorn popping month, national caramel month and bizarrely national dental hygiene month. Not very good planning! Or maybe it is you spend 29 days eating popcorn and caramel and then go to see your dentist on October 31st!
October is also national sausage month, yummy I like this one, national spinach lovers’ month, not so keen on this one it’s more for the vegetarians among us, which is great as it’s also national vegetarians’ month. Don’t forget it’s also national squirrel awareness month. I don’t think we are supposed to eat them, more to be kind to them! I hope anyway, as I understand some people are quite partial to squirrel pie! Poor little squirrels. I’m a little furry creature lover myself so I don’t advocate this activity in any way.
My brief research into this subject has been very enlightening and I’m also looking forward to the many national days, weeks and months that celebrate the teddy bear. I’ll be sure to let you know in plenty of time when these are, so that we can all celebrate together.
